Make an ATC

ATC's, artist trading cards, are a great format to test out your artistic skills, try a new technique on a small scale, or simply to express yourself. Stitching and other textile arts are well-suited for making these miniature works of art.

What are the "rules"?
There are only three. ATC's should be 2.5 x 3.5 inches (64x89mm). They need to be original, and finally they should be one-of-a-kind.

How do you make them?
With the size constraints in mind, simply stitch and embellish your piece of fabric with cross stitch, embroidery, beads, charms, buttons, or whatever else you have on hand. Make your ATC simple, make it elaborate, make a picture, make it abstract, your imagination is the only thing limiting you!

There are several ways to sew them together. You can hand stitch the backing fabric with the front, or you can use a machine to either zig-zag the edges or sew the it together right sides facing and turn it out. If you want your ATC to be firm, sandwich a thick non-woven interfacing in between the front and back pieces. You can use acid-free cardboard, as well. It's quite ok to not used any filler too and just have a soft ATC.
